# Nulix Team Roles and Permissions: Admin, Editor, Viewer

> Understand Nulix's three team roles — Admin, Editor, and Viewer — and see exactly which workspace actions each role is permitted to perform.

Nulix uses a role-based access system to give you precise control over what each team member can do in your workspace. Assigning the right role ensures that contributors have the access they need without exposing sensitive settings or billing information to everyone on the team. Every team member is assigned exactly one role at the time they are invited.

## The Three Roles

> **[Admin](https://docs.nulix.io/admin/roles-permissions.md)**
>
> Full access to the workspace. Admins manage settings, billing, team membership, and all content. Assign this role sparingly.

> **[Editor](https://docs.nulix.io/admin/roles-permissions.md)**
>
> Create, edit, publish, and delete articles, and manage categories across all knowledge bases. Editors cannot access team or billing settings.

> **[Viewer](https://docs.nulix.io/admin/roles-permissions.md)**
>
> Read-only access to the workspace dashboard and published content. Viewers cannot create, edit, or publish anything.

### Admin

Admins have unrestricted access to every part of the Nulix workspace. This includes all content actions that Editors can perform, plus:

* Inviting, removing, and changing the roles of team members
* Modifying workspace-level settings (name, URL slug, security, notifications)
* Accessing and managing billing and subscription details
* Deleting the workspace

### Editor

Editors are the primary content contributors in Nulix. They can:

* Create, edit, and delete articles in any knowledge base
* Publish and unpublish articles
* Create, rename, reorder, and delete categories
* View analytics for all knowledge bases

Editors **cannot** access team management, workspace settings, or billing.

### Viewer

Viewers have read-only access to the workspace dashboard. They can browse published content and view article history, but they **cannot** create, edit, or publish any content. This role is useful for stakeholders who need visibility into your knowledge base without contributing to it.

## Permissions Table

| Action | Admin | Editor | Viewer |
| - | :-: | :-: | :-: |
| Create Article | ✅ | ✅ | ❌ |
| Edit Article | ✅ | ✅ | ❌ |

## Changing a Member's Role

You can update a team member's role at any time. The change takes effect immediately.

**1. Open Team Settings**

Click **Settings** in the Nulix sidebar and select the **Team** tab.

**2. Select the team member**

Find the member in the **Active Members** list and click their name to open their member details.

**3. Choose a new role**

Click **Change Role**, select the new role from the dropdown, and confirm the change.

> [!NOTE]
>
> A workspace can have multiple Admins, and there is no limit to how many Admins you assign. However, **billing is always tied to the account that originally created the workspace** (the workspace owner). The owner's account cannot be removed from the workspace while they remain the billing contact. To transfer ownership, contact Nulix support.
